TOUR Rules 2006

The ASCA All Breed Agility Tour (TOUR) will run in conjunction with an ASCA Sanctioned Agility Trial hosted by the West Coast Australian Shepherd Association (WCASA) in June 2006.  The date and location will be announced in January 2006.  The number of entries for the TOUR will determine whether it will be a stand alone event on the Sunday of the WCASA hosted ASCA Sanctioned Trial weekend or in an adjacent ring along with the ASCA sanctioned trial.

There will be a Standard and Veterans division for each jump height division (small, medium and large dogs) which will consist of four rounds total – 2 rounds of Regular, 1 round of Jumpers and 1 round of Gamblers. There are no elimination rounds. Dogs that qualify and enter the TOUR are eligible to compete in all rounds for their division. A dog may only compete in one division.

Eligibility and qualifications

1. Open to all breeds; dogs must have an ASCA register number (LEP, regular registration or tracking #).

2.  Scores can be accumulated at any dual (NADAC/ASCA) or ASCA only sanctioned trials.

3. A qualifying score “Q” with zero faults = one (1) point.

4. A minimum of seven (7) points must be accumulated between January 1 – December 31, 2005.  Out of those seven (7) points, a minimum of three (3) must come from the elite regular class with a clean (zero faults) run, a minimum of two (2) points must be earned by a qualifying score in elite gamblers and a minimum of two (2) points must be earned with a clean (zero faults) elite jumpers run.

5. Qualifying in an Elite Standard division class with zero faults gives the dog one point towards the TOUR in the Standard Division. Qualifying in an Elite Veterans division class with zero faults gives the dog one point towards the TOUR in the Veterans Division.

6. The jump heights will be divided as specified in the ASCA Jump Height Table in Chapter 2, Section 2.3 - Jump Height Table.

7. Bitches in heat will be allowed to run. They will run at the end of each class. A rug or tarp will be brought out to the start line and the dog will be placed on the rug or tarp to begin her run. Bitches in heat will be required to wear panties during their run and must be crated (not in an ex-pen) prior to and during the competition, except when competing, away from the agility ring at a distance or location to be determined by WCASA.

Verification and entries

1. All interested contestants who have met the minimum qualifications for the TOUR may go to the WCASA website (WCASA.net) after February 1st and before March 31st 2006 to obtain an entry form.  All entries must be postmarked (United States Postal Service) by March 31, 2006.  You will be required to list the trials where you obtained the elite qualifying scores.

2. The entry fee charged for the TOUR will be $50.  No entry fees will be refunded after the closing date March 31, 2006. Dogs will not be allowed to enter a portion of the rounds. If they enter the TOUR, they must enter all rounds available for their division.

3.  Dogs entered in the Veterans division of the TOUR must have received qualifying legs in the Veterans division during the qualifying period.

Awards

1. Each round of Regular, Jumpers and Gamblers will be placed one (1) through four (4) for each division and jump height group (small, medium, large). Rosettes will be awarded for each placement in each division and jump height group.  A special award will be given to the winner of each class.  No qualifying ribbons or scores will be awarded. Qualifying scores will not be applied towards ASCA certifications, the Agility Merit program or the Agility Finals program.

2. There will be three TOUR champions in the Standard Division, one each for the small, medium and large dog jump heights and three TOUR champions in the Veterans Division, one each for the small, medium and large (based on standard jump height) dogs.  Each TOUR champion will be awarded a rosette and cash prize of $500 for the Standard division dogs and $250 for the Veterans division dogs.

Judging and scoring

1. One judge will be used to judge all four rounds of the TOUR.

2. Each jump height division (small, medium and large) will be scored separately for Standard and Veterans and each jump height division will be grouped together for placements (8” and 12” dogs for small dog division; 16” for medium dog division; 20”, 20”+ and 24” dogs for large dog division, based on Standard division heights). All dogs entered in the Standard division will jump their Standard division jump height, except dogs with jump height exemptions; they will jump 4” lower. Dogs entered in the Veterans division will jump at their appropriate jump height which will be one height lower than their Standard division jump height would be.

3. There will be a Standard Course Time set by the judge for each division for the two Regular and Jumpers classes based on the Standard Course Times listed in the ASCA Agility Rulebook.

The Gamblers class will be the ‘TRADITIONAL GAMBLERS’.  Large dogs will have 40 seconds for their opening sequence time, small and medium dogs will have 45 seconds for their opening sequence time. The opening sequence time for Veterans will be based on the dogs Standard Jump Height. The closing sequence “gamble” time will be determined by the judge based on the guidelines in the ASCA Agility Rulebook.

4. Faults will be assessed in accordance with the current ASCA program rules for agility.

5. Determination of TOUR Champions - each faultless qualifying run in Regular, Gamblers and Jumpers will be given seven (7) "Q" points. Each faulted (.01 to 5 faults) qualifying run in Regular agility will be given one-half the value of the "Q" points, or 3.5 "Q" points. Dogs in the Standard and Veterans divisions within their jump height division will be ranked by the most "Q" points, then if necessary, by the further ranking procedures below:

1.  First, rank by the number of "Q" points (a faulted Regular Agility Q counts one-half).

2.  Then sort by each dog's total of the number of dogs beaten. (Placement points) For example, if twenty dogs are entered in a class such as Jumpers, the first place dog would receive 19 placement points (in other words, beat 19 dogs), the second place dog would receive 18 placement points, the third place dog would receive 17 placement points, etc. Dogs that are eliminated or are scratched receive zero placement points, but still count as dogs defeated.

3.  Then sort by the most points in Gamblers.

4.  Then sort by Jumpers times, first rank the dogs by considering whether the dog qualified and then by the dog’s run time.

6. The Jumpers class will run first, followed by the ‘Traditional’ Gamblers class and then by the two Regular classes. Small dogs will run first followed by medium then large dogs in all rounds.  In jumpers the run order will be random draw within each jump height division (i.e. there will be a random draw for all the 8” & 11” dogs, all 16” dogs and all 20”, 20”+ and 24” dogs).

7. Each subsequent class will be run in reverse order of placement based on cumulative scores within each division (Standard/Veterans) and jump height division (small/med/large). In the event that two dogs are tied for placements, the dogs will run in alphabetical order of call name. Bitches in heat will run last in each class. Scores will be posted when they are available.
