Rock N Rovers' -  Woofstock 2007 Welcome Letter

(This Welcome Letter will continue to be updated as more info is obtained - last update Saturday 04/07/2007)

Welcome to Rock N’ Rovers’ first flyball tournament  in a very long time – way too long  have been told so please bear with us as we go through our learning pains.   We appreciate your entry in our tournament and hope you have a fun and relaxing time. We will have two rings on grass with plenty of space and I am hoping that we don't have to worry about rain – but we DO have to keep in mind that it can get windy!!

RACING SCHEDULE  - IMPORTANT INFO
We are going to try something a bit different as far as the racing schedule is concerned.    We will be using ONE schedule/TWO ring racing schedule, BUT, we are going to TRY to keep all odd races in ring one, even races in ring two.   This will help those teams who do not like not knowing what ring their next race is in.  THIS IS NOT SET IN STONE.   Maintaining this “format” will be totally dependent on teams getting into and out of the ring in a timely manner.   IF we find that this is not working (one ring way behind the other) we will either  A) adjust the races to bring them back to a more even balance, or B) go to the usual pattern of feeding the next race into the next available ring.    People have been frustrated at tournaments, not knowing what ring their next race will be in  -  this is an attempt at a solution for those folks - but it will take everyone's efforts to make this attempt a success.    If you find you have a ring conflict, please advise the “ring boss” at your earliest convenience, not when you're being expected in the ring please.   Again, this is our attempt at compromise - one schedule, but designated rings for racing.   Please help this be a success!!!!!

Camping Information:   NO TENT CAMPING   The Park and Recreations people are not allowing “pitched tents” on the grounds.   BUT – you can camp in your EZ-Up or trailer / RV / Van camper - and there is no charge for camping. Bathroom Hours:   Please note (and remember) that the bathrooms will be locked at 10pm and opened again in the morning at 6 am.

Water:
The Parks and Recreation people have informed us that as the water used for irrigation is recycled, they are NOT going to allow us to use it for the dog pools.  We will have dog pools, and filling them manually,  PLEASE  bring your own drinking water.  Since pool water will be at a “premium” we ask that pools not be dumped out and refilled needlessly.    Any team wanting to bring private team pools should also plan to bring enough water to fill them please.

Setup on Friday April 20:
You may setup canopies from 2:00pm - 6:00pm. The park will close at 6:00pm.  Please look for your designated areas for setup. We will be setting up the lanes on Friday afternoon and if you feel like assisting - no offers refused!!!!!

Parking: There is plenty of parking close to the racing area.   There is NO admission or parking fees for this park.

Food: There should be a snack concession on site, but a little walking distance from racing.   There are numerous fast foot and sit down establishments within a few miles of the park.    IF our schedule allows, we may have a break for lunch, but our first concern is racing  - so if time does not allow for a break, please be prepared to eat and run.

Raffle:
Our raffle looks to be a promising one. We will have an IPod, an EZ-Up plus several other very cool items so make sure you make it by our raffle table and buy LOTS of tickets.   We certainly don't want you going home without a raffle win!

Photographer: There will NOT be a professional photographer at our tournament.   There are several team members, and team friends who will be on site taking pictures all weekend long.    Rock n Rovers plans to take team photos of every team attending.    Photos will be taken on Saturday.   Please make sure you take time to go over and get your team picture taken.   We also would like to take a picture of all attendees as a group shot.   Time for this picture will be announced.

If there is anything we can do to make your tournament experience go smoothly, please do not hesitate to contact either Jane or Rob. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Jane's email address is: horsbalz@aol.com . Rob's is: robjemail-woofstock@yahoo.com / 213-300-2791. We will be out at the site early Friday morning and some of the tournament committee are camping on site as well.

Have a safe trip.
